French-Senegalese artist Delphine Diallo expands her photographic work with mixed media collages and drawings to underline the emotions of her subjects and tell their stories – a powerful means of further expressing the world in which she’s trying to capture. In 2008, Delphine moved to New York City from Paris to spread her artistic wings. Delphine juxtaposes reality with imaginary conscience; fashion with documentary photographs; tradition with modernity.
A graduate of the Académie Charpentier School of Visual Art in Paris in 1999, Delphine has traveled the world to shoot, collaborated with photographer Peter Beard and was named one of Photography’s Rising Stars by the Smithsonian. In 2013, Delphine was named one of PDN’S 30: New and Emerging Photographers to Watch. She also works as a freelance photographer for publications including The New Yorker, The Smithsonian Magazine and Time.
